QuiltingCalc: Essential Quilting Calculators for Every Quilter
QuiltingCalc, developed by Handmade Interactive LLC, is a collection of eight essential quilting calculators that every quilter needs. This iPhone app, created in collaboration with Robert Kaufman Fabrics and Quilter's Paradise, provides a range of calculators to assist quilters in their fabric measurements and cutting needs.
The calculators included in QuiltingCalc cover a wide range of quilting tasks. The Fabric Measurement Converter allows users to easily convert between inches and yards, as well as decimal and fractional forms. The Backing and Batting Calculator helps determine the amount of fabric needed for the backing of a quilt. The Piece Count Calculator shows the number of fixed-sized pieces that can be cut from a larger piece, while the Pieces to Area Calculator indicates the amount of fabric required to cut a given number of fixed-sized pieces.
In addition to these calculators, QuiltingCalc also includes a Binding Calculator, which determines the amount of fabric needed for binding a quilt based on its dimensions and the binding strip width. The Border Calculator helps quilters calculate the fabric required for creating borders based on the quilt's dimensions and border width. For more complex quilting blocks, the Square-in-a-Square Calculator works out the key dimensions of a square-in-a-square block. Lastly, the Set-in and Corner Triangle Calculator determines the size of the square piece needed to create unfinished set-in and corner triangles.
